NAN TURNERinterview
RS- What what the best day of your year?
Nan- Definitely when I saw The Two Towers because I have a forbidden love with Legolas and Strider.
RS- What was the worst day?
Nan- When I got laid off from my job I was pretty bummed.  But then I was happy. So maybe that wasn't my worst day, but crying in my former boss's office isn't a
great memory.
RS- Was was your worst fight ever?
Nan- hmm probably a fight i had with an ex-boyfriend where we were both screaming in an italian restaurant.  an unhappy version of billy joel's song. i'm not so discreet sometimes.
RS- How was it shooting the second season of "the Osbournes"?
Nan- well, sometimes I get tired of having my private life picked apart, but hey, it sells records doesn't it? my new song shut up is fabulous but i wish my drummer
would stop trying to take the spotlight from me.  i told jack i didn't want a girl drummer cause i knew she would try to steal the show.  i think i want to fire my whole band now actually.
RS- What was your favorite record this year?
Nan- definitely not christina aguilera's stripped. that sucks rocks.  i like regina spektor's "Songs" and Major Matt's new record. I've been rediscovering the genius of Liz Phair as well. I also like Yoko Kikuchi, Randi Russo, The Leader, The Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players, Knot Pinebox, The Kirby Grips....ah there's so many!
RS- What do you think will happen next year?
Nan- I think that more people will decide to be vegitarians.  And that George Bush will develop insomnia and acid reflux because he keeps hearing that people are
protesting the war.
RS- When did you record your album?
Nan- well i'm glad you asked that. I recorded Leg Out from in the spring of 2002 w/ Major Matt Mason USA.  We worked in an intermittent fashion. a couple hours here, an afternoon there.  Now I want to record another whole cd.  Think the last one was a little short.
RS- Did it end up being a good distraction?
Nan- From the rest of my life? of course. though I am just
tired of the paparazzi climbing up my fire escape to
view my "creative process". enough already! get your
own process!
RS- What fun stuff did you do in New York?
Nan- i went trawling for sinners.   i got trashed, met leonardo di caprio who really
cannot act for shit, and then I called my friend in alaska cause i missed her.
RS- Did you do much shopping in New york?
Nan- i bought a plastic jesus at a thrift store. i hate shopping and i hate clothes. i don't want to wear clothes anymore.
RS- What's the most extravagant thing you bought this year?
Nan- i paid a couple hundred bucks for color copies of my cd art at kinko's.  that almost did me in.
RS- Do you get a lot of free clothes?
Nan- yes. my neighbor is always knocking on my door giving me clothes she can't wear anymore, like fleece vests and flip flops. I also steal socks and sweaters from
major matt.
RS- Are you going out with that guy in the used?
Nan- the only guy i'm going out with is the extremely talented singer in Creed. HA HA.  no i'm with major matt! i love him.
RS- What's the longest-term boyfriend you've ever had?
Nan- the major. 3 and a half years.
RS- Which of your hairstyles this year did you like best?
Nan- When Anu dyed my hair pinky red.
RS- Are you and Jack competitive at all?
Nan- no. he hates my guts and says he hopes i trip on stage but i don't think we're competitive in any way.
RS- If you had to sum up this year in five words...
Nan- um....well......i learned stuff.
RS- I haven't heard anything, no.  Start a rumor about yourself.
Nan- All my songs are about my cat gummo. and i'm 21 years old.
