It is truely that as he mixes a lot of sounds on the record. It sounds together and includes Guest Vocals by Regina Spektor. Linda is going to be on a Christmas Compilation put out by Planting Seeds Records! She didn't want to sing no traditional Christmas song.. being that they're cheesey, and besides that, it just wouldn't feel right. SO, Linda renamed one of her original songs Merry Christmas even though it doesn't really have much of anything to do with the holiday season. His recent rise to prominence in New York's antifolk music scene is due to the strength of his offbeat songwriting talents combined with some wildly inventive self made "instruments" such as a motorized Cadillac Beatspinner Wheel and a distinctly Dr. Seussian instrument he calls the Hornicator. For his trip to England he has created a new, slightly smaller variation on the Beatspinner (which is too unwieldy for air transport) called Sister Spinster. Made up of junkyard bits and pieces including small spoked wheels with collapsible mallets the Spinster contraption spins, thumps, clicks and clacks at various tempos, creating a rhythmic backdrop for Thomas's acoustic strumming, lively surreal stories and dark, romantic lullabies. |
