Tkills- tim-yeah, we have layered lots into it and now its kind of like picking and choosing Brad- Is the newer stuff different than the old disc because of the backing beats and "electro folk elements? or are the lyrics and other elements different as well? Tkills- pablo- the new disc actually has a few songs from our first disc...which really were only intended as demos originally..this really is like what we consider our first real disc. Tkills- tim-yeah the full manifestation of the idea. Brad- So this was the plan all along Tkills- pablo- it's been a long process of searching for our sound...and the right arrangement for us...we did a band for a while and hated it...now we feel like we've found our sound! Tkills- tim-I feel that the electro thing is contemporary, and it saves us time and money, we are able to produce beats and bass lines without having to schedule rehearsals. Brad- I love the disc that you sent me by the way I especially like top sing along to an almost gleeful sounding "fuck you" Maybe you could tell me the story of how you guys met and came up with the name. Tkills- TIM- we actually met at a party while attending "AMDA"(a musical theatre conservatory NYC) Tkills- we then went to montana for the summer, the same summer Matthew Sheppard was murdered. Tkills- pablo had suggested that me make T-shirts that read "testosterone kills" and I said why not call the band that Tkills- pablo_That summer we worked in a show at a lodge in glacier park...we got Tkills- death threats anonymously that said "fags like you die easily in these parts"...it was scary...we left! Brad- sounds f'n scary- are both of you from NYC? Tkills- pablo-im from san diego Tkills- tim-i'm from connecticut...we met in theatre school in nyc Brad- I had fun in NYc last week for the Anti-Fest, I wish I coulda stayed the whole time and caught you guys- I saw Hamell in 2000 up there and he was great! In your bio it says that you guys don't really do theatre anymore- so that you can concentrate on your music- Do you find it a better outlet for you than thetare was and where do you see your music taking you? Tkills- pablo-as actor you are a sort of tool in someone elses vision of a project that has nothing to do with you...you're creativity and voice are very limited Tkills- ...not only that but...the material is oftenuseless and outdated...you can't say anything in a revival of a musical from the 40's... Tkills- it's important to us to say some things that we actually feel no-one is saying so we chose to do this Tkills- tim-as for where it is taking us......I would like to think we will be able to leave a little dent in the foil of politics especially in terms of gay rights and have a career doin it Tkills- it would be nice to have some 16 yr old kid identify. I wish when i was 16 i had some one to justify my feeling about the whole thing Brad- I have a friend who is on the board of directors for time out youth I think for all of NC which is a gay/lesbian youth organization and he has in teh past been in charge of bringing entertainment to the area such as Margaret Cho among others do you guys ever do stuff for organizations such as these? Tkills- npablo- no...not for any reason...just haven't..we are going to be on a compilation with ani difranco and jill sobule which will benefit youth organizations...but that's it...
