The PF Timeline
1989- Paleface meets Daniel Johnston. Daniel teaches him to write a song. Also about God and Satan. Paleface begins to make tapes.
1990- Paleface and Beck hang out in the Lower East Side, NYC. Danny Fields discovers Paleface at Lach's Antihoot.
1991- Polydor signs Paleface and he writes Burn And Rob for the first album.
1992- Paleface tours with The Judybats and with the Crash Test Dummies. Audiences hate him. He then tours with Billy Bragg. Audiences warm up a little. He appears in Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine. Friends think it's cool. Paleface doesn't get it.
1993- Paleface begins to work on his record. A & R badgering keeps him awake at nite (staring at the ceiling). End of '93- End of record deal. Paleface gets dropped. The record company doesn't' like new songs.
1994- Paleface makes Generic America for Shimmy Disc. Masters get erased. The record doesn't come out. Bah!
1995- NY Post does half page article on Paleface in Lisa Robinson's column. End of '95- Paleface gets signed to Sire Records. Finds out he's been signed from Jesse Malin (D-Generation) behind the bar at Coney Island High, who read it in the paper.
1996- Get Off comes out on Sire about the same time as Beck's Odelay. One month later Paleface is dropped from Sire.
1997- Spring -"comeback" tour with The Breeders and Lutefisk. So much alcohol and drugs consumed, PF gets shakes by Vegas. Lutefisk breaks up soon after. Breeder's album gets shelved. Fall- PF collapses, rushed to hospital with failing liver. Nearly dies- doctors tell him alcohol and him don't mix. Paleface relents.
1998-1999- Long recovery. PF continues to write between illnesses.
2000- Paleface returns to Antihoot. Meets Joie DBG, The Moldy Peaches and a bunch of other cool artists. Releases The Multibean Bootleg.
2001- Goes to San Francisco to make record with Jason Carmer (The Donnas, Run DMC, Third Eye Blind). Record gets sidetracked by 9-11and big budget 3rd eye record. He releases the couch tape.
2002- Forms Monkeybone. Gigs around. He records Se la Voo in one day.
2003- Finishes San Francisco recording. The CD, Bottlefed, is released on Art Monkey Records. It features Third Eye Blind bassist Arion Salazar, Jeff Buckley' s drummer Parker Kindred, Brain (Tom Waits, Primus, and Guns & Roses), and Taro and James from Monkeybone. Disbands Monkeybone later that Spring. Forms side project Just About To Burn with Breadfoot and Monica "Lil'Mo" Samalot. First JATB record released,produced by Ena. They tour London, crowds love it. PF comes back to NY thinking the city sucks shit mostly 'cause of T.V. and rotten doomed culture. (Rest of USA too).
2004- Has just finished a solo record called Free Your Mellow, Has plans for another one to be recorded in late spring and another Just About To Burn record in the fall.Stay tuned....
